Learning something new all the time...

So we learned something interesting and totally gross this week. Micaela's eyes were looking pretty crusty in the morning and there was one day that Greg thought a nose booger had actually lodged itself in the corner of her eye. However, after a couple of mornings of this, we decided it must actually be an eye infection.  We spoke to the pediatrician's office and found out, to our grossed-outedness, that because babies/little toddlers don't have very much room in their sinuses, sometimes the secretions that come with colds make their way out through the eyes.  In other words, Micaela's eyes are snotting. So much so that they have been crusted shut the last couple of mornings. I told you it was gross - poor kid, though it really doesn't seem to bother her that much. Except when I try to clean her eyes up.  Then we get to hear about it! :)

We were seeing a similar thing with Scotia, and the doctor recommend that we use a saline nasal spray twice a day to help get things moving through "the system". The backup will also put a lot of pressure on their ears. We also use a humidifier at night. It took a few days but it cleared things up.

I never thought that I'd be going there either.

Good luck with the 'snotting'
